To follow is a quote from Noel Garratt’s memoirs:
“Night by night I made it a practice to tell Bible stories. I didn’t try to apply them I just told the story with all the imagination I possibly could. I recall standing at the top of the stairs looking down below and in the dark telling the stories. I remember Mother calling – time lights are out – all should be asleep and the children calling – just a little longer mum. I was their TV. They found the stories that the Lord helped me tell them to be so absorbing in interest and I am sure that those stories have helped mold their lives. In fact I have been assured by that by the children. They were given a love for God but also a healthy fear of sin. I praise the Lord as I look back that He enabled me to spend time with the children. I think of what I have been reading recently in Deuteronomy how Israel was commanded to teach the law, the word of God, diligently to their children as they walked by the way, when they sat down and when they rose up. They were to tie the law on their forehead and on their hand and on their gate post so that they would never forget how important it was to fear the Lord, to love the Lord, to serve Him acceptably.”
